On July 26, 2025, the Mbororo Social and Cultural Development Association (Mboscuda), led by its national president Adamou Amadou, held a powerful inter-community sensitization event in Songkolong, Bankim Subdivision (Mayo-Banyo Division, Adamawa Region).
🗣️ In light of the upcoming October 12 presidential elections in Cameroon, the mission was clear: promote peaceful coexistence and social harmony between farming and pastoral communities—specifically the Tikar, Mambila, Kwandja, and Mbororo peoples.
👥 Local authorities stood shoulder to shoulder with the people. The mayor of Bankim, Mr. Angelbert Mveng, praised the deep-rooted unity among communities:
“We may face challenges like healthcare and food access, but division is not one of them. The Mbororo have always supported me—through their prayers, I was chosen to be mayor.”
🌟 Highlights of the event:
- 🎉 Cultural Fair: A vibrant display of Mbororo art and the beloved traditional “kossam”.
- 🎓 Education Milestone: Honoring Ramatou Ilyassa, the first Mbororo girl in Bankim to pass the Baccalaureate (A4 German track)! 👏 The mayor pledged to personally fund her university studies.
- ⚽ Community Football Match: Mboscuda Songkolong edged out Mboscuda Sabongari in a thrilling 1–0 match.
This wasn’t just a gathering—it was a celebration of diversity, resilience, and progress. Events like these are key to democratic transformation. In times like these, let’s remember: only Cameroon and peace should emerge victorious.
