During the historic intercommunity gathering organized by Mboscuda in Songkolong, Bankim, one of our respected elders took the floor to deliver a heartfelt message that left the crowd deeply moved.
In his speech, the elder emphasized the importance of unity among the Mbororo, Tikar, Mambila, and Kwandja people, calling for renewed efforts to preserve the peaceful coexistence that has defined the region.
“Before politics, before conflict, before division – we were neighbors. Let us return to that truth,” the elder said.
He urged the youth to stay away from violence and to embrace education and dialogue as tools for solving conflict. Addressing parents, he encouraged them to send their daughters to school, proudly referencing Ramatou Ilyassa, the first Mbororo girl from Bankim to earn a baccalaureate.
As tradition and modernity continue to meet in Songkolong, the voices of elders remain a guiding light. Their messages remind us that our strength lies in unity, respect, and cultural pride.
